The Problem We're Solving
A standard strata report can run to 300 pages or more (the largest we've processed to date was just shy of 5,000). The risks that matter: an upcoming special levy, a building with depleted reserves, a bylaw that bans short-term rentals. They're rarely on the first page. They're buried in meeting minutes from three years ago, footnoted in financial statements, or scattered across documents that were never meant to be read together.
Most buyers either skip the report, skim it, or pay a professional to review it. None of those options are fast, cheap, or reliable. StrataClear was built to be all three.
But finding hidden issues is only part of the problem. In a market like Sydney, where properties can sell in days, speed matters just as much as thoroughness. Engaging a conveyancer and a professional strata report reviewer for every unit you're considering is expensive and slow. Most buyers don't do it until they're already serious, which means they often commit time and money before they know whether a property is worth pursuing.

Founded by a Property Investor Who Almost Got Burnt
StrataClear was founded by Pete de Jersey, a software engineer and property investor. Pete has spent the past decade investing in Australian strata properties while working in technology, most recently leading forward deployed engineering at Amazon Web Services, working directly with customers to solve real business problems with AI.
The idea came directly from his own experience. While considering a strata property purchase, Pete obtained the strata report, then stared at 300-plus pages he didn't fully know how to read. The $250,000 special levy he nearly missed was there in the documents. It just required knowing where to look, how financial statements and meeting minutes connect, and what the warning signs actually look like.
That experience stuck: the problem wasn't access to information. It was that reading a strata report properly is a skill most buyers don't have and shouldn't need to develop just to make a sound decision.
StrataClear was built to close that gap, so the information in a strata report is actually usable by the people it matters to most.
